  12. I'm somewhat frustrated with the performance of my PCMCIA 28.8 modem
  13. (Motorola Montana).  It will reliably connect at 28.8 when I dial a
  14. direct line thru the office PBX to our terminal server, but requesting
  15. an outside line or using it out of the office I'm lucky if I get
  16. anything greater than 19.2.

  18. My Zoom 28.8 in my desktop machine will consistently connect at 26.4
  19. on the same phone lines.  Although I'd like to see it occasionally
  20. connect at 28.8, that's better the Montana's performance.

  22. Is this just the price you have to pay for the miniaturization?  At
  23. twice the price of a standand internal desktop modem you'd expect
  24. comparable performance.
