- I'm somewhat frustrated with the performance of my PCMCIA 28.8 modem
- (Motorola Montana). It will reliably connect at 28.8 when I dial a
- direct line thru the office PBX to our terminal server, but requesting
- an outside line or using it out of the office I'm lucky if I get
- anything greater than 19.2.
-
- My Zoom 28.8 in my desktop machine will consistently connect at 26.4
- on the same phone lines. Although I'd like to see it occasionally
- connect at 28.8, that's better the Montana's performance.
-
- Is this just the price you have to pay for the miniaturization? At
- twice the price of a standand internal desktop modem you'd expect
- comparable performance.
-
- Any help is greatly appreciated.
